Kent plays hosts to some of the biggest names in comedy this spring

Kent is set to play hosts to some of the biggest names in the comic game over the upcoming sunnier seasons.

From television joker Lee Nelson to superstar Russell Brand, the Garden of England has it covered. Here is a guide to some of the highlights.

Omid Djalili: Schmuck for a Night

Making ample appearances across the television and film network, the award-winning stand-up comedian brings new material, touching on serious subjects in side-splitting fashion.

The Evening Standard called the show: “A stripped back performance that still leaves one smiling”.

Catch Omid on Sunday 9th April at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells. and Saturday 6 May at The Orchard Theatre, Dartford.


Danny Baker: Cradle to the Stage

Broadcaster, journalist, and screenwriter Danny Baker will debut a stand-up tour landing at the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone, on Saturday 29th April.*&imgrc=VF6T4xHGKJ3_5M:&spf=389

Russell Brand: Re:Birth

Flirting with the complexities of politics, the media, being a parent and much more, the show questions crucial issues but with Brand's familiar humour.

The Guardian said: “Arena-level stand-up that asks us to think as well as laugh”.

The Orchard Theatre, Dartford, welcomes Russell Brand to Kent on Sunday 9th April, with following shows in Margate, Canterbury, Chatham and Tunbridge Wells.

Lee Nelson: Serious Joker

Simon Brodkin is back with wacky alter-ego Lee Nelson for a live stand up tour, eight years after debuting a hit TV series on BBC3.

The chucklesome chav will perform at Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, on Thursday 13th April, with shows in Chatham and Bromley to follow in May.

Al Murray: The Pub Landlord - Let’s Go Back Together

Distinguished for his quick wit and televised persona of a comical publican, Al Murray is award-winning, with 20 years of experience featuring in multiple TV shows and successes around the world. Catch Al on Sunday 4th June at Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells.

Reginald D Hunter: Some People V. Reginald D Hunter

Relishing a lucrative stand-up career following a dare, American comedian Reginald D Hunter is in Dartford on Friday 5th May, Tunbridge Wells on Thursday 11th May, and Canterbury on Sunday 11th June.


Stewart Lee: Content Provider

Writer, director, musician and funnyman – Stewart Lee kick started his career during the 1990s and is still going strong with a new tour across Great Britain and Northern Ireland lasting until 2018.

Stewart arrives in Kent on Thursday 8th June at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells.

Jimmy Carr: The Best of, Ultimate, Gold, Greatest Hits Tour

Recognisable for his signature laugh, Jimmy Carr has marvelled together old material with new to create an incredibly witty stand-up show, performing across the U.K and international waters, with an appearance at Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone on Wednesday 12 July.

Simon Munnery: Standing Still

British Comedy Award nominee Simon Munnery is a regular on television and radio, and brings his witty annotations and straight up humour live to The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury on Thursday 27th April.
