If you are familiar with the song “that will get on your nerves, get on your nerves ”, then this year’s panto at The Orchard Theatre in Kent is for you as comedian and actor Joe Pasquale takes the lead as Muddles in the fairest story of them all.

Snow White is a stage adaption of the popular fairy tale created by the Brother Grim following an innocent princess left in the care of her evil stepmother, rescued by seven dwarfs and of course a charming prince.

The production contains those cheesy traditional panto vibes, but mixed in with all of the magical moments is roaring hilarity.

A particularly funny scene sees Snow White (Victoria Serra) and The Prince Calum of Kent, played by Alexis Gerred, locked in a loving embrace, taunted by an annoying Muddles speaking in their faces, cracking jokes and even giving the Prince a tap in the face – however the cast remarkably didn’t flinch and held their gazes; so impressive considering the rest of the auditorium was bursting with laughter.

Consisting of a glittering castle set, spectacular scenes and extravagant costume designs along with fascinating effects it seems no budget was spared to ensure the pantomime provided an enchanting experience with credit to the creative team.

Pasquale’s naturally funny charisma hits you as soon as he appears on stage and continues to please the audience the whole way through the production, he is wonderful character to watch. Villain Queen Sadista, played superbly by Rachel Stanley, taunts the crowd, sings dances and is a force to be reckoned with.

Dame Dolly Diamond (Ceri Dupree) plays Muddles’ fabulous mother offering adult innuendoes and a dry sense of humour providing a great antidote to the all children’s entertainment and without giving too much away, the Seven Dwarfs are very inventive!

Younger audience members will find the show dreamlike; adults will just find the show ridiculously amusing.
