This summer it seems as if everyone is going crazy over one film or another.  People are queuing up at cinemas nationwide to spend their hard-earned money on Hollywood’s latest offerings.

If you’re one of the many who plans to flock to your nearest multiplex, please remember this. Star-studded casts and impressive budgets spent on CGI wizardry don’t make a film. In fact, let’s not forget that some great movie classics were filmed on a shoestring, with previously unknown actors or even in black and white.

It’s for this reason that I recommend shunning this season’s big-budget releases and instead having a rifle through your old video collection.  You might be surprised at what you find. I really hope, however, that nobody has an old copy of Night Dreams.  Quite frankly, it’s the stuff of nightmares.

China unveils sex robotI apologise for not warning you about the ear-shattering sound effects beforehand.  This trailer is essentially just a long list of all the things that Night Dreams apparently is. They’ve hit the mark with a couple of adjectives (“surreal”, “insane” and “disturbing”) but I’m really struggling to see on what level it’s “magnetic” or “erotic”.  If you do happen to find a copy in a cardboard box somewhere, please destroy it promptly for all our sakes.

China really upped the weirdness stakes this week when a company there released a sex robot. On the market for around £3,000, customers can choose the face and figure of their robot. What’s more, the robot can apparently recognise its owner’s face and hold a conversation with them. The remote-controlled invention is apparently aimed at well-paid executives who don’t have time to People and their twin-fishmeet women. I’m not convinced: a robot for £3,000 or Zoosk membership for free? You do the maths.

People sometimes say that pet owners look like their pets and quite often it’s true. Men with dreadlocks tend to have big scruffy dogs while Chihuahuas are most often seen in the arms (or handbags) of some Paris Hilton lookalike. What’s not said so often is that people look like the food they eat (probably because in most cases it’s not true). Photographer Ted Salabrese, however, has photographed “People and their twin-fish”. Basically, it’s people who are about to eat a fish that looks like them.  You can see more photos from the collection here.

Finally, here’s another video to give you nightmares.  42-year-old Russian woman Tatiata Kozhevnikova reportedly has the strongest vagina in the world. She has been training for 15 years and can apparently lift weights of up to 14kg, a feat which landed her a place in the Guiness Book of Records.  Surely there must be easier ways to get your name in print?
