Cath Kidston takes over London's Southbank with flowers ahead of Mother's Day

To celebrate Mother’s Day (this Sunday, in case you’re being particularly neglectful), homeware designer and all-round queen of florals Cath Kidston took over London’s Southbank this week with a sea of flowers. The 4,000 pink and white gerberas (that’s 60,000 petals and a massive 250 man hours to build) were arranged in the brand’s signature polka-dot print on the Southbank, close to the Tate and the Oxo Tower. As part of a display that reminds us a little bit of the Tower of London’s poppies from last year, but with a slightly less devastating symbolism, the flowers were then handed out to commuters for them to pass on to their mums this weekend. A vintage flower cart was also on hand, giving out bunches of flowers. The timelapse video below shows how the huge display was put together against the London skyline... #BloominMarvellousMum
