Looking for a relaxing holiday and the solution to dodgy tan lines? Naturist BnB may be the answer.

The new Airbnb-style website is nudists’ response to the rising popularity of peer to peer holiday rental platforms. Finnish couple Petri and Minna Karjalainen have created the website on the basis that no suitable options currently exist for tourists wishing to enjoy a nudist holiday.

Andrew Welch of British Naturism, an organisation supporting naturists in the UK, admits that many people still perceive naturism as “all a bit strange and weird” yet recognises that “it’s less of a scary dinner party subject abroad”. However, the success of Naturist BnB (that has been running for two months and now boasts over 200 properties worldwide) suggests that the website may indeed be filling a gap in the market.

The Karjalainen duo explained that they had previously been hosts on Airbnb but found that their bookings dropped when they included ‘clothing optional’ or ‘nudist’ in their property descriptions. With Naturist BnB, holiday-makers know what to expect when making a booking, which creates a welcoming community of like-minded individuals. The website includes ‘House Rules Tips’ and ‘Naturist Rules and Etiquette’ to maintain this friendly community spirit. The latter details various criteria that should be obeyed by guests, including showering when using saunas and pools and not staring at others. Sexual behaviour is strictly forbidden given that “a nudist environment should be a safe, non-sexual space”.

The site currently displays listings ranging from glamping tipis in Portugal to private villas in Spain. Hosts have the option of offering additional services; like the Portuguese tipi owners who offer naked yoga and naked body paint at an additional 5 euros per guest. Or if you're looking for something more regal, there’s no need to look much further than the eighteenth-century chateaux in France that can host up to 60 guests. This listing has its own pool, the larger of which is dedicated to naturism.

What’s more, the platform encourages naturists to stay in naturist-only properties in relatively secluded areas, so in fact, should please any naturism-sceptics out there. Hundreds of hosts and guests are convinced by the concept of Naturist BnB… Are you?
