Fancy some classic Americana? Try Route 66
One of the most famous highways in the USA, Route 66 is the ultimate road trip route. Look out for leather-clad biker gangs, Sons of Anarchy style!
The subject of countless pop culture references, and almost two and a half thousand miles long, the route runs from Chicago to Santa Monica, LA, through eight states.
Although the original route was officially decommissioned in the 80s, the road itself is still by far the most iconic US adventure. Along the way, you’ll find countless classic Americana style stop-offs, but if you’re short on time and want just a taste of Route 66, pop into Seligman, Arizona, a quirky town known as the birthplace of the historic route.
Want to feel the wind in your hair? Check out California State Route 1
Cruise your way along the California Coast in Western USA! Start off with some star spotting in Los Angeles, then make your way along the scenic highway stretch up to the ‘City by the Bay’, San Francisco. The route also takes in Big Sur, a stunning, undeveloped stretch of coastline – the longest of its kind in the United States.
For laid-back vibes and plenty to discover en route, the ‘Sunshine State’ is the perfect setting to experience your dream road trip!
Mad for music? Tour the Deep South Music Route
Although not an official route in itself, we just had to include a trip through the Southern states for any music-mad road trippers out there.
Start your adventure off in Nashville, aka Music City U.S.A, and enjoy a Nashville night out with some line dancing before partying the night away to live music on Broadway. Heading down through Memphis, sing the blues and visit the home of Elvis Presley; and in laid-back Louisiana, enjoy jazz and the Bourbon Street nightlife in the mighty New Orleans.
Got time on your hands? Follow the Pan-American Highway
The Pan-American Highway is a network of roads that stretches all the way from Alaska’s Prudhoe Bay down to Ushuaia in Argentina, commonly regarded as the southernmost city in the world.
