Sail down to Generator Venice...

Venice: a city famous for many things. Gondolas, masked balls, Giacomo Casanova... and soon, for being the location of Generator’s newest boutique hostelling experience. Generator Venice is the latest in the hostel company’s portfolio, which already includes Barcelona, Copenhagen, Dublin, Hamburg, London and Berlin, where you’ll find two hostels within very different areas of the city. It’s also the ONLY hostel in the whole of Venice, which should set it firmly as a must-stop destination on your interrail itinerary. Not that you’ll land at Generator Venice simply because it’s the only hostel available. Situated within a 19th century store warehouse that was built during the time grain was a high commodity in Venice, the hostel’s redesign was overseen by the Venice Fine Arts Committee – which will give you some idea of the velvet-seated, vintage-y feel of the place. Here you can expect decadently Italian accommodation, which still manages to stay comfortable and affordable, in one of Europe’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities. You can choose between private rooms (twins, triples and quads, starting from just €15.75 per night), mixed dorms (also starting from €15.75) and female only dorms (starting at €18). All rooms come with fluffy white towels – pure luxury! Generator Venice also boasts: Free Wi-Fi/internet terminals A bar, open from 6pm to 1am, with a happy hour A lounge Continental breakfast for €3.50 A dining room, open 6pm to 10pm Vending machines for snacks 24-hour laundry room 24-hour reception Secure facilities for left luggage Power showers The hostel is found on the island of Giudecca in the Venetian Lagoon, with stunning views of Dorsoduro sestiere (one of the six sestieri, or boroughs, of the city.) If you want to add a bit of luxury to your European interrail trip, you should probably get down to Venice and check in with Generator. Generator Venice is open now but will fully launch in early September. For more info on the hostels and Venice in general visit the Generator site here.
