Meetings will now happen via Skype as NUS can no longer afford travel

According to an email, NUS has decided that 'all committee meetings will happen online from now on.' The drastic move comes after the revelation that the NUS is on the verge of bankruptcy with a £3 million deficit prediction. The organisation is desperate to reduce their costs to stabilise their position. Part of the union's plan 'to remain solvent' includes a combination of ' borrowing against the building,' 'making cuts to staff and turning off some of the activity we deliver.' The email sent to committee members states that the NUS is 'currently in a period of turnaround due to a deficit in our finances.' Cuts to travel expenses are part of the turnaround.
