A 21 year old student was rushed to hospital on Sunday after being found unconscious in a car park during the University of Reading’s Summer Ball.

The woman was found in a car park on the university’s WhiteKnights Campus on Shinfield Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said: "We received an emergency 999 call with the caller reporting a 21-year-old female had been found unconscious in a car park on the Whiteknights Campus.

"We sent an ambulance to the scene and she was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."

The cause of the woman’s unconsciousness has not been revealed but the ambulance service have said the paramedics, who were called to the scene at 2.55am, recorded the woman as having no obvious physical injuries. She has since been released from hospital.

A spokesperson from the University of Reading confirmed their knowledge of the incident: "The University can confirm that there was an incident on the Whiteknights Campus on Sunday morning and one of our students required medical attention.”

The Summer Ball is a 10 hour ‘festival-style’ event organised by Reading University Students Union (RUSU) and held annually on the Whiteknights Campus. There are ten bars, open from 8pm to 6am the following morning, and with 4500 student attendees it's the biggest event of the year.
