A Manchester Met student was allegedly mugged by a group of teenagers thinking he was carrying weed.

Camm Golden said he was attacked on Tuesday night around 10:30 pm. He was allegedly mugged near Curry Mile, a 30-minute walk from the campus.

Golden claims he was walking when a group of five or six boys aged between 15 -17 years old came up and asked him if he had any weed. They did not believe him when he told them that he was not carrying weed.

Speaking to The National Student, Golden told us about the attack:

“I said that I didn’t want to have to hit a kid, to which they all started pushing me and getting angry about the fact that I’ve just called them kids."

This caused a fight to break out, Golden one of the attackers ended up on the ground.

According to Golden, a man saw them fighting and started yelling at him for hitting the boys. Two women who had witnessed the incident from their car, stepped in to tell the man that the group were attacking Golden.

While this was happening, the group ran away. Golden said none of his possessions was stolen, but he suffered injuries to his face. He shared a video of his injured face on the Fallowfield Students Facebook group.

“People don’t expect to see that this has happened, especially so close to where we live,” he said.

He has not reported the incident to the police but said that people have been encouraging him to do so.
