A taxi driver has been found guilty of raping a 20-year-old Cambridge student.

Siddiq Mozumder, 33 of Roman Road, London, raped the student on the outskirts of Cambridge last April as he drove her home from a night out in London.

The prosecution told the court took Mozumder had taken advantage of the woman, who had been drinking on a night out in London.

The woman began to feel ill from the alcohol and called a cab to take her home to Cambridge.

The court heard the woman couldn't remember very much from the night but recalls Mozumder being on top of her.

Mozumder claimed the woman had been fully conscious and had climbed in the front of the taxi and performed a sex act on him.

Prosecutor David Matthews said: "Just because she wasn't resisting you took it step by step - further and further."

Barry Kogan, defending, told the court that the woman, when interviewed, wasn't certain she was raped.

Kogan added Mozumder was a quiet family man and hadn't been in trouble before.

The married father of four will be sentenced at a later date.
