If you’re a student in London (or anyone else residing in the capital – we don’t discriminate) we’ve got some good news for you – a new app is giving you the chance to get a taxi ride for just 99p for the whole of next week. SPLYT is a new minicab app, which allows users to easily split (get it?) their taxi fare. The app’s creators have clearly done their maths – the premise means that users can see savings of up to 40% when they choose to share their journey with another passenger travelling on the same (or similar) route at the same time. It’s also the only minicab sharing app that gives the passenger complete control over whether to accept or decline a share request, so the safety side of things is sorted. SPLYT drivers manage incoming share requests via the SPLYT app, which calculates the current passenger’s saving and potential trip delay. These factors are then communicated to the passenger, who then chooses whether or not to share the journey and fare. There is also free in car Wi-Fi, a female-only sharing option, an in-app payment system (with an integrated tipping system eliminating the need to carry cash) and the chance to rate drivers and fellow passengers for future safety purposes. SPLYT is launching today (Friday 10th April) and the 99p cab offer is available from Monday 13th until Sunday 19th April. To get the 99p fare just download SPLYT, register and follow the instructions to receive your promo code. Founder and CEO, Philipp Mintchin, says: “Public transport can be unreliable, inconvenient, pricey and time consuming, whilst the cost of travelling in taxis or solo in minicabs is too expensive for most.” He continues: “Our aim is for SPLYT to reinvent how we travel, empowering users to share a private driver and providing private transport without the price tag.” We’re definitely going to be taking this offer up – after all, it’s quicker, safer and even cheaper than a bus or tube journey. Sorry, the dreaded night bus journey across four dark boroughs. Your time has gone. Find out more here: justsplyt.com
