What is the World University Squash Championships and who is competing for Team GB?

The next big summer students sports event is on the horizon as the World University Squash Championships gets underway. 

So where is the tournament being held? Who is taking part? And how can you get involved? 

Where is the World University Squash Championships? 

The tournament will be held between September 6th and September 12th at the University of Birmingham.

The competition will feature 21 nations, including Great Britain, Hong Kong and China. 

Who will be competing at the World University Squash Championships? 

Five students will represent Team GB at the tournament, with University of the West of England’s Joshua Masters leading the line-up. 

Masters will be competing in his second World University Squash Championships after securing a bronze medal at the 2016 tournament. 

Masters has been a member of the PSA World Tour since 2013, reaching his first PSA World Tour final in 2015. 

The Brit won his first title at the Bexley Open after beating Piedro Schweertman in the final. 

He added the PSA World Tour Austrian Open title to his roster the following year with a 3-0 victory against Rui Soares. 

Masters also won his first PSA M10 title with a  victory over compatriot Peter Creed.

How to watch the World University Squash Championships?

Tickets to attend the tournament’s quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are available online now

Adult day tickets for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final are priced at £3. Student entry is available at a discounted rate of £2.
