The whole world is watching April, a 15-year-old giraffe, giving birth to her calf. The calf's birth is currently being live streamed on Youtube for millions to see - talk about celeb status! The giraffe, who will become a mother for the fourth time, is expected to give birth at any time at The Animal Adventure Park, in Harpursville, New York. April has been in labour for a few days. An update today on the Animal Adventure Park's Facebook page said: "Continued movement of baby inside, and big baby kicks, are noticeably obvious. "Through the evening April had to find her right positioning to feel comfortable to lay down, which is evidence of continued growth and position change of the calf. "Today will yield warmer temperatures from yesterday's flash freeze, allowing a little bit of yard time for mom, and of course time for Oliver.
"Still no baby, we have not announced active labor (sic), mom and baby are happy and healthy." On Sunday, the Facebook page said: "We will not announce active labour until calf hooves are visible...once we are final stages of the labour - the process is quick. Visible hooves- to - calf on the ground, can be as short as 30 minutes! During active labour, the front hooves will come out first followed by the snout. When April gives birth, her calf is expected to weigh roughly 150 pounds and stand six feet tall. Thousands are currently watching day five of the live stream, with mate and soon-to-be first time dad, five-year-old Oliver, in a separate pen beside her. Once the calf is born, the park will be having a contest to name it. You can watch the live stream here.
