The barracuda is a ray-finned fish. It’s credited for its large size, where some species can reach up to 2.1m in length, and 30cm in width. Covered with small, sooth scales, they don’t mask its fearsome appearance.

Brighton based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hayley Ross angelically sings ‘I am the barracuda’ on her latest single, the title track from her recently released EP.

Easing gentle, wind-flowing melodies with a crystalline vocal, lovely harmonies move like the gentle sea towards the shore.

Washed with simplicity, the soft song sings like a lullaby, acting as a cautionary tale of deep still waters with dangerous creatures below.

Though its gentle rhythm, crafted from salty acoustics and melodic echo, harbour a relaxed, laid back pace.

Its dreamy feel floats with an intimacy that anchors a blissful peace resting on the surface.
