Pret A Manger doubles its discount for customers with reusable cups

High street coffee chain Pret A Manger is raising the discount on hot drinks to 50p for customers who bring in a reusable cup, in a bid to reduce waste.
Up until now, Pret has been offering customers a discount of 25p per hot drink served in a reusable cup, like their rival chains Starbucks and Costa.
However, after a push from CEO Clive Schlee, customers ordering a hot drink and asking for it to be put in their own reusable cups will have a larger discount taken off at the till.
Mr Schlee has been reaching out to Pret customers on social media since November last year.
How do we encourage more customers to bring reusable coffee cups to @Pret? We’re thinking of increasing the discount for bringing your own cup from 25p to 50p. Our organic filter coffee would cost just 49p! I’d love to hear your thoughts.— Clive Schlee (@Cliveschlee) November 27, 2017
He has hopes that the improved incentive will “make a difference”.
The announcement has seen a very positive reaction across Twitter.

As well as raising the reusable cup discount, Pret has said it will source a well-designed reusable cup to be launched in store later this year.
