Ousted former Sheffield Hallam MP and one-time Deputy Prime minister Nick Clegg has got a new job – as a columnist for the i paper.
According to the paper, “his fortnightly column will take in topics from Brexit to the future of liberal politics, and his passion for Spanish food.”
Clegg’s wife, Miriam González Durántez, is a Spanish lawyer and partner in a law firm.
The Former Liberal Democrat Leader lost his Sheffield Hallam seat in the general election after 12 years, in favour of Labour's Jared O'Mara.
The paper revealed yesterday that “While he’s best known as a politician, he will be writing for us first and foremost as a journalist and commentator.”
i’s Comment Editor Barbara Speed added that “it’s hard to think of anyone better placed to give insight on what lies ahead.”
His, first column, on cross-party co-operation during Brexit talks (which are currently scheduled to begin in four day’s time) is live on the i now.
