Starting out her journey as so many musicians have, tucked away in a bedroom with a guitar and computer mic, Gabrielle Aplin made her first steps to stardom on YouTube.

A tear-jerking cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ‘The Power of Love’ topped the UK charts in 2012 and since, she’s released a steady stream of acoustic-driven albums including English Rain and, most recently, Light Up The Dark in 2015. A humble, softly-sung and raw songstress, Gabrielle Aplin is true to her aesthetic across an impressive back catalogue.

‘My Mistake’ is the latest offering taken from Aplin’s new album, set for release in the New Year. Blossoming like a spring flower, ‘My Mistake’ delicately opens up new layers of Aplin’s anxieties; her honesty swells and shimmers with support from emotive pianos and suddenly bursts in a frothy wave of anthemic strings and driving keys. It’s simple, wispy and sensationally sensitive in its reflections on embracing human flaws.

Aplin said recently in a release, “I've always found writing a therapeutic escape from real life, but this song gently forced me to be brutally honest,” ‘My Mistake’ also forces its listeners to be brutally honest with themselves, and is the perfect soundtrack to a rainy Winter’s day of inward observation.

‘My Mistake’ comes from Gabrielle Aplin’s new album, due for release in 2019 via AWAL and Never Fade Records.
