Jevon is an artist very much made for the new wave of hip-hop. Equally as adept with his singing ability and his rapping ability, he transitions seamlessly between hip-hop and R&B, creating cool fusion tracks like ‘Wagwarn’ in the process.

The track takes influence from all around the world. It features an incredibly smooth, summery beat in the same realm as a J Hus, with clear dancehall influences throughout. The flows from both Jevon and guest feature Berna are diverse and catchy. Very much championing the UK style, 'Wagwarn' pairs an American influence too like that of California rapper The Game, with one of the flows used being highly reminiscent of his 2004 hit ‘How We Do’.

One of Jevon’s punchlines: “I was on the roads when…was yelling 'uhhh!'” is highly resemblant of “I was sellin' rocks when Master P was sayin' 'Uhhhh!'” from the same Game track. The catchy flows are paired with clever and memorable lines sprinkled in throughout: “fee fi fo fi fum, I see 5-0 I run”, which just adds to the track's enjoyability.

The chorus here is as smooth as anything to come out in recent memory, especially over the American West Coast funk synths introduced later on in the track. Jevon seamlessly switches from rapping to singing later in the track too, showing off that artistic range he has, with the end result here being an incredibly fun track to just vibe to and enjoy.

Jevon's new EP Judas is due out this autumn.
