Hear This: Hollie Cook - Sweet Like Chocolate

Following a hugely successful LP, Vessel Of Love, released earlier this year, sweet and sultry reggae artist Hollie Cook dollops Caribbean flavours over the UK garage cut ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’. Hollie’s cover of ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’ is imperfectly perfect in its reworking of a 90s club classic; seasoned with her luscious vocals, charismatic percussion and tropical electronic twangs. While firmly influenced by reggae rhythms, there’s a lovely blend of slow-jam rock in its melody and fluttering harmonies. While Hollie is certainly accustomed to putting her own stamp on cover songs, she explained in a recent press release that Shanks & Bigfoot’s iconic track was a leap into the unknown: “I thought that would be a great one to try, and slightly more contemporary than my previous cover attempts!” Country-hopping all summer long, Hollie has been busy racing through the festival circuit with David Rodigan at The Royal Albert Hall, Somerset House and the Southbank Centre, and filled the Sofar Sounds’ Amnesty International fundraiser with the help of Rudimental. Soak up the last of the summer vibes with Hollie’s latest single ‘Sweet Like Chocolate’.
