Art school duo Clara Cappagli and Armand Bultheel (known as the impenetrable force that is Agar Agar) are not the types to teeter on the edge. Their second single this year ‘Sorry About The Carpet’ is a huge leap into an unknown, futuristic thrill ride.

The French duo return to the spotlight with their second single of the year and accompanying visuals ‘Sorry About The Carpet’. Just a taste of what’s to come on their debut album The Dog & The Future (penned for release on Cracki Records this September), ‘Sorry About The Carpet’ is entrancing, hypnotic and humorous, all in one foul swoop. Resonant of The Chromatics’ minimalistic electronic style, Agar Agar are known for their playfulness with bouncy synth pop beats and extra-terrestrial soundscapes.

‘Sorry About The Carpet’ is no different; Cappagli’s mesmeric vocals are carried expertly by Bultheel’s execution of nostalgic synthesisers which makes for a long journey full of plenty of twists and turns. It’s a journey though, which never tires the listener, thanks to its abstract and ever so slightly cheeky lyricism.

Produced by Antonin Peretjatko, the visuals for ‘Sorry About The Carpet’ are equally as fascinating. Cappagli and Bultheel spend almost 5 minutes trying to clean stains and spills from a $1000 carpet decking out a regal mansion house. Glimpses of messy dance moves, pop culture references, and contrasting colours really add an alternative aesthetic to the visuals.
