Described as feeling “more like a very English village fete than a festival”, FolkEast springs up annually in Glemham Hall, Suffolk, during the month of August.

Visitors to the festival are treated to a weekend of workshops, local produce and fantastic live music, with the event featuring some of Britain’s best folk acts. Past years have included Jon Boden, Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys (who we interviewed here) and Lau, with 2018’s lineup looking equally promising.

Show of Hands with Miranda Sykes, the multi-award winning roots duo and their longstanding tour companion, are headlining, along with folk rock group Oysterband and acoustic trio McGoldrick McCusker and Doyle. The list of exciting acts that will be attending the festival goes on to include The Gigspanner Big Band, a project that combines legendary fiddle player Peter Knight with BBC Folk Award winners Philip Henry and Hannah Martin.

The musicians will be performing across six different stages, ranging from the cabaret-style Broadroots tent to the Sanctuary Stage in the Church of St Andrew, as well as the main Sunset stage at the centre of the grounds. In addition to watching music being performed, attendees can take part in interactive workshops, with past years including the opportunity to bring along your own instruments and jam with the professionals.

FolkEast runs from 17th - 19th August in Glemham Hall, Suffolk, and tickets can be bought here. Weekend tickets cost £120 for adults, £108 for concessions (including students), £80 for youths (12-17), and kids under 11 go free.
