If you are still finding yourself toying with the prospect of which summer festival you will be spending your hard-earned cash at, then look no further than the trembling power of 2000trees.
The 2018 edition of the festival is its boldest statement yet; with the dominant force of At The Drive In and Enter Shikari both topping this stellar bill.
If you are yet to be aquatinted with 2000trees, then the festival itself is a three-day event (taking place from July 12-14 2018) jam-packed with the finest talent and contained neatly within the picturesque Cotswold Hills. Previous 200trees alumni include Wolf Alice, Frank Carter & The Rattle Snakes, Twin Atlantic, Deaf Havana and Slaves.
Excitingly, the 2018 event will see Enter Shikari
making their debut as the festival's headliners. Poised and prepared with the responsibility of shutting down the site on Saturday night, Enter Shikari will be helping to celebrate the 12 years of 2000trees in absolute style. The band - born circa 1999 - are no strangers to a headline slot (having topped the bill for Slam Dunk 2017) and are set to bring their razor-sharp showmanship, raucous professionalism and of course, era-defining tunes to the table. Get ready for the onslaught.
While Enter Shikari are set to take the reins on Saturday 14, they first must pass through the hands of At The Drive In
, who man the main stage on Thursday 12. The post-hardcore quintet, At The Drive In, have had more band splits than they care to remember, however, they are still alive, kicking and fighting for that pivotel crown of rock. The Texan band will set the bar excruciatingly high for the likes of Boston Manor
and Black Foxxes
- who play throughout the weekend - with their classic sound and pioneering tracks.
About both phenomenal headliners, 2000trees’ festival organiser, James Scarlett said: “To have Enter Shikari joining At The Drive In as a 2000trees headliner is a massive statement for us and I really feel that this reaffirms our place as the best independent rock festival in the UK.”
When you think rock festival, you naturally think Reading & Leeds but, with it’s shining, strictly-rock n’ roll bill; 2000trees is turning a greater number of eyes its way. Joining the heavyweight headliners on the bill are Kingston Upon Thames’ Arcane Roots
, Touche Amore
, the über cool Turbowolf
, Basement and of course, YONAKA
A 2018 festival would not be suited, booted and ready to rumble if London’s brightest band, YONAKA were not already waiting in the stage wings. The quartet’s juggernaut attitude regularly stuns crowds, and, with aid from Theresa Jarvis’ killer vocal performance, an underlying air of bubbling uneasiness is always created. YONAKA keep you in a place of menace, squeezing the flowing passion from you until the very last note. An essential addition to the 2000trees bill.
2000trees itself flirts with intimacy (the capacity for the festival is capped at just 12,000) and boasts big named-artists against tiny, underground rock bands. This concoction of the known, the obscure and the brand new is what sets 2000tress apart from the rest of the rock festivals. Not afraid to take risks; if you are looking for something different to dip your toes into this summer, pick 2000trees.
2000trees take place at Upcote Farm, Cheltenham from July 12-14, 2018.
