#360RAW: shining the spotlight on West Yorkshire bands

Yorkshire has churned out some of the best and biggest acts in the music business: think Arctic Monkeys, Pulp, The Cribs... You can put Kaiser Chiefs, Def Leppard and Bring Me The Horizon on that list too. Aiming to shine a light on emerging acts, specifically from the West Yorkshire area, are BBC Introducing's Alan Raw, and Richard Watson, promoter for the 360 Club in Leeds. Named '#360RAW', the new monthly night will feature hand picked bands from Keighley to Pontefract and everywhere inbetween, with a strong focus on brand new breakthrough talent. A focus so strong, in fact, that while Alan Raw performs a DJ set each night before the bands take the stage, anyone is welcome (and encouraged) to chat and hand over demos which he may blast to the crowds on the night, or consider to play on his BBC Introducing show. “The 360 Club has a simple motto: Make a difference, not a fortune." says Richard, "The club showcases the finest emerging live acts from Yorkshire, playing host to a variety of genres and styles from gig to gig. One week it could be blues, the next alternative rock, the next electronic; if it’s good I’ll put it on and aim to have each artist compliment the rest of the line-up. Behind the scenes it’s about helping artists and sharing the things I’ve learned from the industry over the years. I want to be an industry person they can turn to without any hidden agenda.” Featuring As Sirens Fall from Keighley, Kill The Silence from Leeds, Stand Alone from Bradford, and Deadlock Saints from Leeds, the first night is set to take place on Friday 23rd February at the Lending Room, Leeds.
