Hear This: HATCHIE - Sure

Harriette Pillbeam aka Hatchie is taking Australia – and the world – by storm, with the recent release of her second single ‘Sure’, and an accompanying music video; both drenched in the late 80s/early 90s synthwave aesthetic. Typified by a mesmerizing shoegaze aura, Hatchie blurs the conventions of current pop and indie music by blurring layers of guitar and melody into a hazy, indistinguishable concoction that aids Hatchie’s aim: creating music to accompany her inner daydreams. Finished in one day and written on a whim, ‘Sure’ amplifies Hatchie’s inner-self, whilst also commentating on the struggles of falling in and out of relationships. Hatchie juxtaposes sorrow with upbeat melancholy, typical to the shoegaze genre. Hatchie will be performing at the famed SXSW in Austin, Texas next March and will also be performing in the UK at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. Make sure you also check out her debut single ‘Try’, available on Spotify, along with ‘Sure’. Watch the video for 'Sure' below.
