My Name is Prince exhibition to premiere in London

Fans of legendary superstar Prince will get up close and personal with his possessions as they head from his home in Paisley Park, Minnesota, to The O2 in Greenwich, London this October. ‘My Name Is Prince’ is the first official exposition showcasing unique artefacts direct from Prince’s famous American estate, giving an exclusive insight into his fascinating life and intricate creativity. Hundreds of items with be on show, including: several of his customised guitars, clothing from the 1984/1985 Purple Rain tour; wonderful stage costumes, diamond studded cane from 2015 and the infamous third-eye sunglasses from 2014. Prince performed a record-breaking, 21 day run of concerts at The O2 Arena as part of the Earth Tour in October 2007, and in celebration the exhibition will run for the same amount of time from 27 October. Excited to show the world Prince’s amazing objects, some of the star’s family will be in attendance for the opening of the exhibition. His siblings said: “Our family is extremely honoured to have this exhibit at the O2, and we know Prince would be as well. “He loved to share his work and life with his fans. We know him as a brother who became not only one of the most prolific songwriters of all time, but an entertainer and musician who was unlike any other.” Prince died aged 57, of an accidental overdose of prescription painkillers in 2016.
