Each year you’d be forgiven for thinking that just a few rubbish Christmas songs exist Fact is Christmas music is AWESOME – there’s loads of it. Put down your Now That’s What I Call Christmas compilation and check out some ‘alternative’ festive ditties to fill your days with aural delight. Christmas parties are great, but most of the “popular” Christmas tunes aren’t exactly going to get your party started are they? What you need is a little Christmas funk in your life! Run DMC – Christmas in Hollis A funky horn sample and awesome breakbeat drives Rev Run and DMC rapping about Santa Claus – what’s not to love? Clarence Carter – Back Door Santa If you can’t enough of that Run DMC tune, extend the funky vibes with the track it sampled. Louis Armstrong – Zat You Santa Claus (The Heavy remix) Verve is one of the greatest jazz labels, releasing brilliant tracks from Mr Louis Armstrong.
