Facing a crowd impatient with suspense, Leeds and Reading organiser, Melvin Benn, finally finishes thanking the long list of sponsors and gets on with the line-up.

The Cure, Foo Fighters, Paramore, Mystery Jets, Eagles of Death Metal, and Pulled Apart by Horses all get cheers, but the biggest applause is reserved for the announcement of At the Drive In which prompts one guy to holler: “YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!” Bloc Party or Kele are noticeably absent this year too which is a surprise. A taster of the festival, local lads Penguin play upstairs.

The Wakefield threesome battled through a huge number of bands to make it to last year’s Radio One Introducing stage.

Watching the acoustic trio, we can see why they’ve made it so far. Their stripped back sound emits warmth several hundred miles away from the habitat of the animal they name themselves from.

Plus one of them uses a speaker as a percussive instrument, which is pretty cool. Catch them at this year’s festival.
