Corey Gaspur, Bioware veteran, has passed away.

Bioware announced the loss on their blog earlier today: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Corey Gaspur.”

If you’ve ever played a Bioware game, you’ve experienced Gaspur’s work. He started at Bioware in March 2007 as a designer in Bioware’s Edmonton location. His first credited project was a collaborating between Bioware and Sega – Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, a Nintendo DS role-playing game.

He garnered awards and attention for his work on the combat systems in the Mass Effect series. He was promoted to lead designer after consultation work on Star Wars: Battlefield and Mass Effect: Andromeda. His most recent credit – and his first credit with his new title - is Bioware’s newest game, Anthem, set for release in 2018.

“Corey was a talented designer and an even better person,” the Bioware team states. “We offer our condolences to Corey’s family and everyone that knew him.”

He will be missed.
