When we think of comfort food a few things can come to mind- maybe pizza, or, perhaps warm, melty cheese or even- a steaming pie, fillled with creamy goodness. Combine them together and we get the mighty emperor of all comfort food- the Pizza Pot Pie. Explained simply, Pizza Pot Pie has all the deliciousness that can be piled on a pizza and is enclosed in the gooey heaven of a chicken pot pie. Originally served in the Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder Co. in 1972, there has been no looking back since this unusual but brilliant creation. As an individual dish, the pizza pot pie is made by scratch through triple raised sicilian bread dough. Further to this, a delicious homeade sause is also intertwined into the recipe which is created through use of olive oil, fresh garlic, onions, green peppers, whole plum tomatoes, alongside a special variety of cheeses. Sausages that have been made by Boston Butts and whole fresh mushrooms are also included in the recipe, as stated by the restaurent's website here! What is even better about the recipe is that over time, a vegetarian version has also been introduced, allowing a wider range of individuals to experience the enchanting tastes that are open to them through this recipe, with both versions being available to be taken home my customers in a frozen capacity also.
