Our friends at Co-op have launched a new Free From range, so we sent our Assistant Travel Editor Caitlin (a long-term coeliac) along to Brixton Road Co-op in South London to test out some samples.

So, do their pasta and sandwiches live up to the test? Here's what Caitlin said about her day of food provided entirely by Co-op...

Product 1: Free From Cheese & Tomato Sandwich

Price: £3

Caitlin says… It’s so refreshing to have gluten free bread that stays intact when you take a bite out of it! There was plenty of tasty cheese and fresh tomato filling the sandwich. I was really impressed with the quality and the price.

Product 2: Free From Tomato & Red Pepper Chicken Pasta

Price: £2.95

Caitlin says… I was really excited about this pasta, but unfortunately it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. While the sauce was delicious, the pasta shells themselves were quite hard and chewy!

Product 3: Free From Choco Rice Crispies

Price: £1.99

Caitlin says… I’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth and do love a dose of nostalgia in my cereal, so these Choco Rice Crispies were perfect! I love the way you’re left with sweet, chocolate-y milk at the end of the bowl, just like coco pops. These hit me right in the childhood.

Overall verdict: Good for a quick lunch, with much more structural integrity in the sandwiches than is found in most Free From offerings. Very reasonable price point. Would visit again!
