Morrison's launch insane foot-long sausage roll

Morrison’s yesterday launched a new foot-long sausage roll that will only cost shoppers £1. The product, appropriately named the ‘jumbo sausage roll’, will be made up of the same ingredients as the company’s other sausage rolls with the only difference being the hugely increased size. The giant pastry is the biggest of its kind in the UK, coming in at 500g and believed to be double the length and at least four times the weight of other retailer’s rolls. The roll itself could be compared more to a subway or baguette then its other pastry counterparts. The roll has been advertised by Morrison’s as being available just in time for the start of the new football season, with customers being given an alternative pastry to serve as a pre-match pie. Morrison’s also added that the snack can be shared as part of a family picnic, though many would be forgiven for wanting the huge new treat all to themselves. Morrison’s, who sell over a million sausage rolls per week, has made the new product as a response to customer’s demand for a bigger, longer version of the classic British snack, according to the company’s Pie and Pastry expert Philippa Shaw. The snack will, however, come with special eating requirements as each one sold will be served on a special tray as opposed to the traditional paper bag just to contain its unorthodox weight.
