The legend that made his name as a quick-witted action hero in Kingsman, Taron Egerton, is literally perfect casting for British legend Robin Hood. Directed by Otto Bathurst, whose name you might not know but whose work you definitely do -- he directed a lot of the first season of Peaky Blinders as well as 'The National Anthem' Black Mirror episode (you know, the pig one). This first look trailer for Robin Hood reveals some fantastic effects, slick fight scenes, and a truly epic story. Following in the footsteps of Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword from last year, the trend of updating Briitsh legends seems to be going strong. Also making an appearance in the trailer are Jamie Foxx as Little John and Jamie Dornan as Will Scarlett. Eve Hewson is the Maid Marion to Egerton's Robin, while Ben Mendohlsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Peaky Blinders' own Paul Anderson play the Sheriff of Nottingham and Guy of Gisbourne respectively - a notorious duo! From the BBC's campy TV adaptation to Kevin Costner's Prince of Thieves (1991) to Russel Crowe's gritty 2010 version, we can't wait to see what original take this Robin will present. The official synopsis states: "Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance." Robin Hood shoots into cinemas on November 22nd, distributed by Lionsgate.
