During these hot summer months, here are a few films that are sure to give you wanderlust. And if you can't afford a trip abroad, why not just let yourself be carried away by the screen?

1. The Beach (2000)

Travel to Thailand with a very young Leonardo DiCaprio and get awestruck by the beauty of the Thai beaches, as he joins a community of travelers that lives there in secret.

2. The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003)

Join Lizzie and Gordo on their school trip to Rome, where Lizzie will meet Paolo, a famous Italian singer who talks her into impersonating his musical partner Isabella - who looks exactly like her - in the Italian Music Awards show. I’ve been wanting to go to Rome ever since I saw this movie almost twenty years ago. And I will be very disappointed if I don’t become a pop star during my trip.

3. Into The Wild (2007)

In the ultimate wanderlust movie, Chris McCandless rejects his conventional life and leaves everything to experience life in the wilderness. Join him in his untiring trip to Alaska through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.

4. Mamma Mia (2008)

There’s many reasons why I would love to go to Greece, but Mamma Mia is definitely one of them. This movie, set in the marvelous Greek island of Skopelos, is all about love, weddings and music in the beach, and the summer vibes are simply over the top.

5. Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-)

Pirates stand for freedom and wanderlust, so it’s no surprise that this saga made the list. Join Jack Sparrow in his quest to reach eternal life while he lives the craziest adventures in the mysterious and beautiful setting of the Caribbean. I don’t know about you, but every time I watch any of these movies the only thing I want to do is get on a boat and sail the seas. A maybe sword fight, just a little.

6. A Goofy Movie (1995)

Join Goofy as he forces his teenage son Max to go on a summer road trip across the States with him, ruining his plans to take Roxanne as his date to a party. Father and son cross the country by car to go to Lake Destiny in Idaho, but after a series of crazy adventures, they will end up somewhere entirely different. Believe me, this one is by far the best road trip movie ever.

7. The Three Caballeros (1944)

As part of the Good Neighbour Policy, Disney created a series of cartoon films promoting South America as an ideal destination. In this one, it’s Donald Duck’s birthday and his cousins, Brazilian parrot José Carioca and Mexican rooster Panchito Pistoles, take him to Brazil and Mexico respectively, to show him the culture and traditions of the countries. I’ve been yearning to visit both places ever since I was a baby, so I guess this movie was the one to instil that wanderlust.
