The trailer tells us more about the film’s plot details as it looks to explore the Transformer’s secret past on earth, as well the reason why they keep returning to the planet.

It appears the film will follow the returning Mark Wahlberg and new to the series Laura Haddock, as they search for the hidden history of the Transformers. They will do this at the behest of Sir Edmund Burton, played by Anthony Hopkins.

The Last Knight will be the fifth instalment of the now decade-long franchise with Michael Bay returning to direct once again.

Many have criticised Bay’s filmmaking in the past, with his love for over-the-top disaster sequences being pointed out as a negative time and time again. However, a recent Yahoo Movies interview with Anthony Hopkin’s saw the veteran actor claim Bay was “a genius” as he likened him to industry greats Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese.

Movie goers will be hopeful that Hopkins comments are well founded, as the series has now become infamous for its decrease in quality whilst steadily increasing its box office take.

The newest trailer shows that many ‘Bay-like’ elements will be returning in the sequel, with a mix of humour and large-scale action being shown off throughout.

Hopefully Transformers: The Last Knight will exceed its low expectations come the film’s release.

Transformers: The Last Knight is due to be released on June 22nd.
