While only just missing out on best picture at this years Oscars, La La Land was massively successful at the prestigious award ceremony,  taking home six awards including best actress for Emma Stone, and best director for Chazelle.

With the hype for La La Land finally calming down, we have yet another Chazelle film to look forward to, as his forthcoming Neil Armstrong biopic, First Man, now has a confirmed release date.

Universal have confirmed that the film, based on James Hansen’s biography First Man: The Life Of Neil A. Armstrong, will initially be released on October 12th 2018. Ryan Gosling is set to play Armstrong himself, the first man to set foot on the moon.
Chazelle will also be working with Spotlight screenwriter Josh Singer, meaning that the film already has a stellar cast and crew to create something likely to be nominated for the 2019 awards season.

Chazelle recently told Digital Spy that "We're approaching it as a thriller to try to get at how insane and death-defying everything was."

He continued: "We live in a world now where we take it for granted that people did that in the '60s in these kinds of fly-by-wire machines before modern computers were even a thing, that we somehow sent people off to the moon and had them come back.

"It's trying to get at the psychology of what it takes to do something like that - the near-crazy mentality you have to have to be Neil Armstrong, to be the first man on the moon."
