Our first look at Alden Ehrenreich as the famed space smuggler comes with a few extra casting announcements too.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo spin-off movie already sounded pretty damn cool. A non-terrible prequel for a change that's not about trade regulations, but pitched as a space western in the vein of Firefly. What else could you want?
The Jump Street duo, who cut their teeth in the animation world on the supremely underrated Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and surprise world-beater The Lego Movie, jump-started the project with a whole lot of neat ideas, and now it seems they’ve extended their genius to an even bigger, more eclectic cast too.
We already knew Hail, Caesar!’s Alden Ehrenreich would be stepping into the renowned waistcoat, and not too long ago Donald Glover was confirmed as a young Lando Calrissian too, with Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke signing on in as-yet unnamed roles.
Well, that already impressive cast just got a whole lot more, err… impressive, thanks to the confirmed involvement of not just Westworld’s Thandie Newton but also Britain’s most recent comedy queen Phoebe Waller-Bridge (creator and star of BBC’s seriously ace comedy Fleabag).
Still no word on these extended roles yet either, but for now, this plus the picture above (check out that hair!), is just about enough. Especially considering it’s more than we have for The Last Jedi, which comes out a whole year earlier. Come on Disney, what’s the hold up?
Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film is set for release in May 2018 and will hopefully have a title by then too.
