Things just got, like, really META. So, yeah, you’ve all heard of Youtube, right? On that particular video sharing platform there’s a comedy duo called SMOSH (Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox) and they are popular – 30 million subscribers popular! Add 20 million social followers and 17 million monthly unique visitors, and you can see why we now have SMOSH: The Movie (following their music hits, spin-off and apps). It’s so 2015, it hurts. It’s the internet swallowing itself for laughs. Basically the duo embark on an adventure through the YouTube portal to delete an embarrassing video of Anthony before his high school crush, Anna, has the chance to see it. In it they run into loads of Youtube “celebrities” as they try to rewrite history. It’s like Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure for the selfie-generation. Sure it does sound like it could be rubbish in premise, but with just enough knowing nods to its own absurdity it really does look like a lot of fun. See for yourself on the trailer below: Smosh is out now on Digital HD.
