Think ‘supermodel’ and what comes to mind?  Probably not an almost 45-year-old, 5”7, world-renowned wild child.  But with almost three decades in the business and a net worth of reportedly $80 million, the Mossy is showing no signs of slowing down.

With career highs of walking alongside Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, and modelling for Burberry and Dior, as well as lows like eating disorder accusations and being photographed snorting cocaine, one thing can be said about Kate Moss’ career - it’s been anything but boring.

We’ve put together some of the moments which have made this queen so iconic from her almost 30 years in the business… the good, the bad and the never ugly. As Kate herself once said... "Why the f***k can't I have fun all the time?"

  1. Kate: The Heroin Chic poster girl

Not the most charming phrase to be coined by President Clinton himself, but what’s that they say about there being no such thing as bad publicity...? The gaunt features and tiny frame of the model, particularly noticeable in her raunchy Calvin Klein shoot with Marky Mark, created a public persona which associated Kate with the ‘heroin chic’ scene.

Although the name itself was totally provocative, the actual movement itself captured the cool, grungey vibe of the ’90s - and we all know that grunge is a total classic.

Before the Alexa Chungs and Cara Delevignes burst on the scene, there was one woman who basically invented the term. Kate Moss was always the original It girl.

Alexa Chung actually wrote about Kate in her book (ironically named, It) that, “Anything she puts near her body is instantly transformed into the coolest thing ever because she is the coolest thing ever and nobody can explain why. It’s just a fact.” We second that, Alexa, hun.

  1. Kate: Inventor of festival fashion

What comes to mind when you hear the term ‘festival fashion’? Most likely frayed denim shorts, wellies and an attempt at capturing the whole ultra cool, rock chick vibe, complete with sunnies and a plastic cup of beer.

This is also known as Kate’s first Glastonbury get up, and since she started the cult trend it's now the traditional ensemble whilst gracing the muddy fields of every British festival.

  1. Kate: The Muse

Maybe it’s her delicate and unique beauty, perhaps the fact she is la creme de la creme of models or possibly just the fact she seems like she’d take you on an unforgettable night out, but Kate has always been a total muse to the industry.

When she was preparing for her come back after a cocaine scandal in 2006, Alexander McQueen even wore a t-shirt which said ‘We love you Kate’ to one of his shows.

  1. Kate: Vicky Pollard’s twin

So, she’s reigned the catwalks, street style and the party scene for almost 30 years.  But, possibly best of all? When she played Vicky Pollard’s twin sister for a Comic Relief edition of Little Britain in 2006.

Kappa tracksuit, garish jewellery and a huuuuge scrunchie is maybe a far cry from her classic boho chic look, but our Kate can pull off absolutely anything.
