2018 has most certainly been Saoirse Ronan's year. From Ladybird to Mary Queen of Scots, she's barely been away from our screens.
favourite Saoirse Ronan looks from 2018.
Mary Queen of Scots European Premiere, London
Channelling Elizabethean glamour in this Carolina Herrera Couture gown, Ronan really pushed herself out of her fashion comfort zone. The high neck ruffles and huge balloon-style sleeves add authenticity to the look, which is a modern twist on a look that Mary Queen of Scots herself could have worn.
Mary Queen of Scots World Premiere, New York
Scots premiere in New York. This Gucci dress is a step away from her usual laid-back style, covered in embellishment including a replica of a human heart - this dress was a huge fashion risk, but of course, Ronan pulled it off with ease.

colour. Floor length with a cape detail, this look was seriously old Hollywood glam - a dress that wouldn't look out of place on Grace Kelly.
colour of choice was pink, again - the dress had a thigh-high slit adorned with silver embellishments. On paper, this dress sounds like it would have been hammered by Joan Rivers on Fashion Police - but it translates to pure, unadulterated glamour in real life.

For me she has been a style icon of the year, wearing a variety of looks... from heavily embellished gowns to tailored suits. Styled by red carpet queen Elizabeth Saltzman, who also styles Gwyneth Paltrow and Poppy Delevigne (to name but a few) her style has gone from strength to strength this year, hardly leaving the best-dressed lists. It wasn't easy, but I've chosen my top ten

Nominated for best actress for her role as the titular character in Lady Bird (2018), Ronan was a vision in pink at The Oscars. Her choice of powder pink gown echoed back to 1999 when Gwyneth Paltrow wore a similar dress - however, hers was Ralph Lauren. Ronan may not have gone home with the Oscar, but she definitely won best dressed. New York Fashion WeekView this post on Instagram
This year, Ronan was unveiled alongside Lupita Nyong'o as the new face of Calvin Klein fragrance. At the Calvin Klein show in New York, she wore a black and pink mini dress by the brand (of course). The sixties style silhouette is a different look for Ronan, she's usually seen walking the red carpet in a suit or floor length gown.View this post on Instagram

For the Indie Spirit awards, Ronan and her stylist chose this stunning green Prada gown - with Saltzman affectionately calling the look 'Pradalicious'. Not many people can pull off orange, but in this dress, Ronan manages it with ease. The body-con dress with cut out detailing was a simple but chic look for the Academy Awards luncheon, letting the real wow-factor be unleashed on Oscars gown to come. However this dress certainly was a look - and I can confirm... orange is most definitely the new black. Tribeca Film FestivalView this post on Instagram
You can't have a list of Saoirse Ronan's best looks without a two-piece suit, and although there were a few to choose from, this cream Michael Kors number came out on top. It's seriously hard to pull off cream when you've got pale skin, but she somehow manages to look incredible as always. The long trousers and fitted jacket give off a mid 00's Victoria Beckham vibe, and I love it. Palm Springs Film FestivalView this post on Instagram
Last but certainly not least, is this powerhouse look from the Palm Springs Film Festival. Saltzman told Hollywood Reporter that they wanted to go more editorial with Ronan's looks this year. This orange and fuschia Gucci dress 100% achieved that. It received mixed reviews from fashion critics, but I loved it. A bold and brave choice, that will remain cemented in my best-dressed list.View this post on Instagram
