How to manage the Summer-Autumn style transition

As August becomes September and the heat wave of summer fades into memory, we enter a new and exciting season of style.

But this being England, the transition isn't always as clear-cut as we would like. Weeks of early-onset winter, will undoubdebly be bookended by teaser periods of an Indian summer.

So how can you easily transition during this awkward inter-season period without packing your options away too early?
