The summer’s not over just yet but high streets all over the country are stocking up on their A/W collections , and there are some serious trends emerging.

It's been walking the catwalks since spring, but now things are getting real. AW fashion has officially his the shop floors and we can't help but let our hearts stray to those irrestable tweed jackets and autmnal hues.

While some will continue to live in the ignorant bliss of believing summer will indeed last forever, we know that there's others who just can't help but forward thing - especially where their wardrobes are concerned!

So if you're someone who to be prepared with next seasons attire, take a look below. Forget the pink and wave goodbye to crochet cossies. These are the only trends you'll be wanting come September...

Reunited with Retro

It feels like our wardrobe has been influenced by the ’70s for a while now and that certainly doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

Mustard yellow, tan and faded denim seems to be the go-to colour scheme for this years' Autumn collections, and flared trousers are everywhere!

Basically, if it looks like it’s from Jackie Burkhart’s wardrobe, it’s probably bang on trend.

Muted in Monochrome

Monochrome is set to be a huge trend this year, particularly with houndstooth and striped patterns. Stylish, classy and business-ready.

Blazers and cigarette pants seem to be the most popular pieces, paired with red accessories to add a little splash of colour to the trend. This is a trend to rule you week-day 'drobe.

Call it Animal Instinct...

Try looking to The Cheetah Girls for some inspiration on this one. It’s been away for a while but leopard print is officially back for this season - and not just for Kat Slater!

Granted, animal print can be quite a bold trend to take on. But so long as you stick to just one animal printed piece per outfit, we don't see why this trend should be part of every girl's wardrobe.

We've got Jumpsuit Jealousy

When it comes to evening wear, jumpsuits are the way to go this season.

The heatwave can’t last forever and jumpsuits are the perfect way to stay on trend when the chillier nights come in.

Pair with heels and go for monochrome or animal print to tackle two trends in one!

Red, Red and more Red

Though the majority of colours for the AW18 season are quite muted, the one exception to the rule seems to be red. Bold and bright as ever.

Whether it's a scarf, some heeled ankle boots, or a felt coat adding colour to your outfit, there couldn't be a better colour to achieve that dynamic look-at-me effect this Autumn.
