The slip dress is the fashion statement that defined the 90s. This lingerie esque look was seen on supermodels and actresses galore. Who could forget Kate Moss’s iconic see through slip dress moment?
Whilst the trend used to mainly focus on plain muted tones, the runways in September were focused on redefining what a slip dress means, with designers such as Dries Van Noten, ACNE studios, Oscar de La Renta and Public School showcasing slip dresses full of bright colour and sequins. No longer confined to lingerie, these dresses are definitely meant to be worn outside the bedroom.
Golden Girl The classic slip dress has been reinvented with the use of bold colour and why not pick the boldest colour of them all for your summer wardrobe, yellow!
Tory Burch’s September show featured a gorgeous golden slip dress that is the perfect inspiration for your beach to bar look. At Mango you can find a great duplicate for £59.99. This dress is perfect for slipping on with trainers for beach mornings and simply swapping for sandals for evening cocktails. Slip dresses can have a very lingerie feel to them and whilst they look great on Christopher Kane’s runway with their lace adornments, they’re not exactly daywear appropriate.
