2017 has been a testing year for many. As we begin to round the year up and enter the festive period, it's nice to leave the less positive in the past.

The news can often seem incredibly depressing, yet there are many things that happen which can actually put a smile on your face.

So, in the week that saw the major 280 character limit roll-out on twitter and Nutella changing it's iconic recipe, here are the best bits of the internet and some other little things to cheer you up!

1. Nice ‘Allegations’

Hollywood has been rocked recently with numerous allegations against formerly well-respected members of the industry. In a bid to spread some positivity, twitter user @BAKKOOONN asked for “nice allegations” and the replies restored a little faith in the industry. Both hilarious and heartwarming, this feed is definitely worth checking out!

2. The AWW Subreddit

For those of you unassociated with Reddit, you’re missing out on a whole host of wonderful things. Mainly, however, you’re missing out on the r/aww - the home of all things cute. Mostly baby animals, it’s full of video and pictures guaranteed to lift your spirits.

3. Spotify’s ‘Have A Great Day’ Playlist

Spotify’s mood section is ideal for finding a playlist to suit your mindset. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face is their ‘Have A Great Day Playlist’. Starting with You Make My Dreams (iconic), there’s no way you won’t start dancing like Tom in (500) Days of Summer. From Outkast to A-ha, this playlist is full of bangers guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

4. First seal pups of the year born in Norfolk

The Norfolk coast is quite well known for its colonies of seals. In Blakeney, there are expected to be 2,500 born this year alone and the first are already arriving. Adult seals are cute enough, but the pups are pure white and fluffy as anything - imagine 2,500 of these cuties? It’s enough to warm even the coldest heart!

5. Vine Compilations

A moment of silence for our favourite fallen social media platform. Vine was amazing and introduced the world to the likes of Gavin, Miss Kiesha (she dead) and frickin bats. It was a happier and simpler time and thankfully youtube is FULL of old vines. From compilations to classic favourites on loop, there’s no end of possibilities.

6. News Anchors as you’ve never seen them before

Every now and again the people who deliver our news want to spread a little bit of positivity too. That's why Channel 4, Sky and ITV all teamed up to recreate a scene from Anchorman, with a very surprising mediator. You’ll never be able to watch the news in the same way again.

7. Greg James as Prue Leith

Anyone who has ever breathed in England will know of the countries love for The Great British Bake-Off. Despite controversy when it moved to Channel 4, it turned out to be a great success and people grew to love the new hosts. Prue Leith, Mary Berry’s replacement, accidentally let slip of the winner on Twitter hours before the finale aired. Radio 1’s Greg James saw his opportunity and took it - and it’s hilarious.

8. The ultimate hat throw

A baseball fan dropped her hat from around the seventh storey of a car park while waiting to see the newest World Series baseball champions parade through downtown Houston. Thankfully the other dutiful fans crammed into the building were able to help her get her hat back, by throwing it up one storey at a time until it reached her. This intense and captivating video is undoubtedly a highlight of the month so far and will leave you both impressed and entertained.

9. John Lewis

One is a department store, known and loved for it’s Christmas adverts. The other is teacher from Virginia. Every year, Twitter users get them very confused. You’d have thought the store would have started giving him some warning, but apparently not if this tweet is anything to go by:

10. John Lewis Christmas advert

Speaking of John Lewis, their new Christmas advert recently came out and it is sure to give you all kinds of feels. Both sweet and heartwarming, it's sure to put a smile on your face as we head into the winter months.

And finally...

11. Milk and Vine
